WELCOMING LIGHT

"The light that welcomes me home."

We woke yesterday to about eight inches of snow on the ground already and it continued to snow all day not stoping until the wee hours this morning. Living on a back road, we don't get plowed until late in the day, and sometimes, as was the case yesterday, not until the overnight hours.
But that didn't keep me from my early morning walk. While I would prefer being able to wait til full daylight before heading out, it was beautiful. All was still and quiet...pure white...the trees heavy with snow...the only tracks in the virgin snow were my own.

  1. LOVELY!

I was born and raised in upstate NY and remember the new fallen snow very well. It's like a siren calling... walk with me, walk with me. I always loved the soft muffled sound of the snow falling and the gentle crunch under my feet. Now that I live in Florida, my walks are much different - and easier - but they don't compare. Thanks for taking me back down memory lane.

  5. Hello, Marisa

Just to keep you informed, that I do watch your Blog. Most of the time, I don't have much to say, but this time I can.

A agree with you and the snow. Getting out in the snow just after it stops or when it's still comming down is something that I like to do myself. It's so quiet and peacefull. I hear nothing but the quiet hiss of the snow. Before all the snow plows and snowblowers start making allot of racket, it's nice to appreciate the solitude. Everything is coated in a white blanket and it all looks so pretty to see.

We haven't had any snow here for awhile. However, it's darn cold! About 18 deg. Too cold for me out there.

    Stay warm

  6. There is nothing more quiet and peaceful than an early morning walk in the snow.....but I have to say I've had enough of them lately to last me for a while.

  13. Sounds like a good idea - but the deer beat me to the "virgin snow!" There were tracks all over this morning, from one shrub to another! Stay warm and have a great SWS!

  14. Oh how I miss the snow! thats one thing we miss here on the beach in California..that beautiful white glow in the early mornings and walking in the silence that follows when everything is covered...I love it! though my husband does not miss all the shoveling looking for our cars :-)

  15. Every now and then, I miss the snow. This looks like the kind that you would hear "crunch" with each step.

Great quote for a lovely picture.

    Thanks, jj

  16. Oh that's pretty! Sometimes I love the beautiful snow, but mostly it just ruins my commute... Hope you have some snow shoes!

  17. So pretty..so peaceful...
I just don't like to get out in it ever since I fell and broke my elbow a few years ago I am very cautious now when it is icy and snowy.

But I love to view it from safe inside the house where I can sit by my fireplace sipping hot tea! ((smile))
