HAPPY NEW YEAR

"Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower."
Albert Camus

Most people celebrate the new year on January 1st and consider spring a time of rebirth, but I've always thought of Fall as a time of awaking and renewal. While the last of the cucumbers and tomatoes have been picked and processed, the garden vegetable plants cleared out and added to the compost pile, and Autumn's nip in the air and the changing color of leaves are a good indication of the imminent long winter nap for the forest and gardens, fall still sparks in me a sense of renewed energy and excitement. But then again, I suffer from "DOS" (Directly Opposite Syndrome) so I tend to think and do the complete opposite of what is considered "normal".

So, while I have been lackadaisical in posting on my blog, I have been very busy in other areas of my life, my daycare, decorating for the season, belly dance two nights a week, creating costumes for belly dance ...will post more on these at a later date...and planning and cooking a fabulous Thanksgiving meal.

Some decorations...

They look good enough to eat but I wouldn't try it!

  3. How pagan of you, mom, to think of this time of year as the new year! DOS must run in the family, perhaps it's genentic, because I feel the same way.

PS. We stopped in the winery on the home from dinner and got in on a free wine tour and tasting with the president. I was feeling pretty good! Tell you more later.
