WISH CASTING WEDNESDAY

Today's Wish Casting question is;
"What doors do you wish to open?"

I wish to open the door of acceptance...

I’m not talking about the “You made your bed now you lay in it” type of acceptance because I’m a firm believer that we do not have to settle with the hand that was dealt us, and that we can strip the bed and remake it, or if need be, just go out and buy another damn bed.

I believe that we have the power to make changes in our lives, the power to adjust, and to determine what we are willing to tolerate in our life and set limits, and that we have the ability to evolve even though it may seem insuperable at times.

While I can bring about change in myself in my own life, I need to accept that I cannot bring about change others. It is up to them to make that decision for themselves if, and when they are ready.

We are all on a journey, and we each choose our own path to follow so if someone chooses the “shit head” path, it is their path, not mine.

It is my responsibility to keep my own path clear and let others be responsible for maintaining their own paths.

…but please just give me the strength to resist the urge to clip them on the side of the head now and then just to smarten them up a little.

Oh my, I love it here at your blog! Your father was a rascal, I can see by the quote on the side, and you seem to take after him. Wonderful!
You've got a soul sister out there, if you have time to go http://originalbliss.typepad.com
check out her shananisms on the sidebar ... you remind me of each other :)

  2. It sounds like you are speaking of someone in particular, that needs "clipping on the side of the head".....
At least I know someone who could use it once in a while, and I totally understand your post. Sometimes it´s hard to focus just on our own path and let the other person be. Whatever their path looks like....

  3. As Marisa wishes for herself, so I wish for her as well.

This is the most wonderful wish. So often I want to try and change the path that others are, so I really need to learn to accept their decisions and get on with my own life. Thank you for the reminder. xx

  5. I like this wish of yours very much. And, if you don't mind, I think I'll incorporate it into my wish for this week because this is something I need to really focus upon.

As Marisa wishes for herself, so I lovingly and with intention wish for her also.

    Accept, accept, accept.

  10. Thanks everyone for your thoughtful comments. To answer your question Betty, I did have someone in particular in mind and, no it wasn't hubby. He was quite concerned that everyone would think I was talking about him. Although he is quite deserving of a clip now and then, he did not inspire this post.

  16. My words exactly. I always say, people can live the lives they want to live, I don't judge others, critisize their lifestyles, etc. but I sure the heck don't want them sticking their noses in my business. We live in a small rural community and everyone "needs" to know everyone else's business.

  23. This is a very insightful post. I love that you made me think about certain people in my life and certain things I need to accept...Also love the thought that we don't have to lie in the bed we made, we can go out and buy a new bed if need be. Well said!
