The New Year means to different people different things, but typically  represents to most a new beginning...a chance to wipe the slate clean and start over, replacing old habits with new and making fresh resolutions to "do better" in the coming year. In the past, I've made my share of resolutions, jumped into them gun-hole only to have them fall by the wayside, often leaving me feeling worse off than before I started. In recent years  I've switched in my attempt for self improvement from making specific resolutions, like loosing 20 pounds, to more generalized ones such as eating healthier and being more active. Last year instead of a resolution, I tried to  focus on an intention or mantra for the year- "simplify"- which worked quite well for me. I was able to rid a lot of clutter in my surroundings, although I still have a long way to go, as well as let go of a lot of  "mind clutter".

Almost two weeks into 2011, I had yet to form an intention for the year that I could get excited about. Finding myself floundering from feeling a strong urge to bring about "change" for the New Year to feeling a need to"lighten up"  it suddenly hit me today what my focus needs to be for the months ahead.

Drum roll please... my mantra for 2011...

...I think that just about covers everything.
(Don't ask what precipitated this eureka moment cause I won't tell
...just wish me luck.)

  1. Your mantra is a good one. I do wish you luck and may try to adopt a bit of it for myself.

  2. Yep, that's a very good mantra and one I might use myself!
Happy New Year Marisa. xo jj
